carol, patricia highsmith
i loved this
another fabulous recommendation lent to me by niamh.. saw the film a few years ago but the book is way better... an inner world/ tension that can only be captured in writing ! a review i saw said it has the pacing of a thriller and imagery of a romance and that is true
medieval horizons, ian mortimer
fun and chill read, i enjoyeed but also i thought some of his opinions were lukewarm ... like ok...
... lolllolol ll this guy has serious beef with the guy who wrote sapiens .... fight ! fight ! fight ! get her jade !

the essay on the suburban weekend: interesting and fun // the essay on tupperware (Alison J Clarke, "Tupperware: Suburbia, Sociality and Mass Consumption"): electrifying, fantastic, wow, omg, loved it, you should read it // the rest of it .... eh ...
study for obedience, Sara Bernstein 06/02/26
i enjoyed this
ok so this book reminded me a little bit of the feeling when i had no mates as a teenager and i had nothing to do so i'd walk around the town and fields and i thought i was too cool for a coat so it was freezing and i also always wore the wrong shoes so my nice trainers got muddy... in a good way !
Lost Lambs, Madeline Cash
Towards the end i was like huh ....
niamh gave me her proof copy of this so at first it felt extra special... thanks niamh... also i was laughing cos the book was funny , it was dealing with a lot of complex relationships in a sharp, witty way ... but then it felt like the author was like oh shit fine let me throw in a story line and then this happens and then this happens and then it feels like all of a sudden when i was writing stories as a child and would get overwhelmed end it with: and then i woke up .... it was all a dream 😍
the stopping places, damian le bas
okkk the reading of this book is currently paused because i cant find it ... and its a library book .... eek ...
im loving this, he goes to all these old encampment sites tthat his family had stopped at for generations but its not like idylic fields and stuff so far its like laybys and mud and things

biography of x, catherine lacey
I HATE THIS BOOK
i am TRYINGGG... 3/4 of the way through fighting for my life omg dragging myself kicking and screaming to finish this book but i dont wanna i hate it im sorry
ok i like the alternate history / american civil war thing thats what interested me about this book but i feel like she gives up on it ... i truly am trying to see why everyone told me it was good ... the main character is sooo annoying and unlikeable but everyone in the book thinks they are soo cool and smart and its like guys all of you are annoying .... i get annoyed every time i pick it up again... am i the problem ? maybe this book will go to the book graveyard
Perfume, Patrick Süskind
halfway through and struggling to stay interested .............
been stuck reading this one for ages ... got stuck at an incredibly boring part, where hes just like inside his mind for ages.. dont care... but people have told me im gonna gag at the twist so i have to push through, maybe i will skip the boring bit - is that allowed? i have to hurry up cos i wanna watch the movie with my friends womp womp
acoustic territories, brandon labelle

mario and the magician and other stories, thomas mann
on its way from world of books....
this was in the reading list from this in our time podcast episode i was listening to about hypnosis... i am curious ... about the power of political leaders etc ...
wifedom, anna funder
about Eileen O'Shaughness ( Orwell's wife )
heard about this from a podcast i was listening to ... looking forward to reading but god, why is it that the books i want to read at the library always seem to only be available as gigantic huge hardbacks its not even big font or a long book its just the hardback reinforced steel cover and to be honest its so embarassing carrying it... i can't get it out discretely in a relaxed and chill way on the bus, it makes me feel like an ipad baby even though its a book... it wouldnt fit in my bag on the way home so i had to carry it round like a clutch in a very : look at me! look at me! kind of way... the picture doesnt capture how big it is its like two and a half hands ... will begin reading this when i get over the shame of it being tombstone, ipad pro sized
(podcast was , The Spanish Civil War: Fighting Facism With Hemingway and Orwell : https://www.everand.com/listen/podcast/977705500 )
